Section 2.03. Environmental education board responsibilities.

  • (1)  Annually by May 30, the EEB shall do the following:
    (a) Consult with the state superintendent of public instruction in identifying needs and establishing priorities for environmental education in public schools to be used in the event that the amount of appropriations is insufficient to fund all applications.
    (b) Consult with other state agencies, including the university of Wisconsin-extension, conservation and environmental groups, youth organizations and nature and environmental centers in identifying needs and establishing priorities for environmental education.
    (c) Establish funding limits based on the amount of money appropriated for the program and determine a date by which applications must be received by the EEB.
    (2)  Following the establishment of the priorities, funding limits and application deadlines under sub. (1) , the EEB shall provide notice to corporations and public agencies as follows:
    (a) By letter to all corporations and public agencies which applied for a grant in the previous year whether or not the applicant received a grant.
    (b) By letter to all corporations and public agencies which request this notice in writing.
    (c) By a notice inserted one time in the official state newspaper.
