No owner may construct or alter any passenger ropeway or portion of a passenger ropeway, or permit any passenger ropeway to be constructed or altered except in compliance with this chapter. Compliance with this chapter does not relieve the owner from compliance with other administrative rules or statutes.

The Department and other state agencies may have additional rules that affect the design, construction, maintenance and use of passenger ropeways, including chs. SPS 314 , Fire Prevention; SPS 316, Electrical; and SPS 340, Gas Systems. The Department's Division of Industry Services administers all of these listed codes.
