No person may operate a mine, pit or quarry unless the person complies with 30 USC 811 , 957 and 961 and the safety and health standards in Title 30 CFR Parts 1 to 199 .

Note

Authority over mines is given to the federal government under the federal Mine Safety and Health Act. The safety and health related requirements for the operation of surface and underground mines are contained in the Code of Federal Regulations issued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, Department of Labor, under Title 30 CFR Parts 46 , 56 and 57 .
