Section 284.22. Discharge standards.

  • (1) Pretreatment standards for existing sources (PSES). Except as provided in ss. NR 211.13 and 211.14 pertaining to removal credits and fundamentally different factors, any existing source subject to this section which introduces pollutants into a publicly owned treatment works shall comply with ch. NR 211 and achieve the following pretreatment standards for existing sources by July 1, 1984:
    (a) The daily maximum limitations for PCP, TCP and zinc are set forth in Table 6 in both lbs/ton and mg/l.
    (b) PCP and TCP limitations are only applicable to facilities where chlorophenolic-containing biocides are used. Permittees not using chlorophenolic-containing biocides shall certify to the control authority that they are not using these biocides.
    (c) Zinc limitations are only applicable to groundwood facilities where zinc hydrosulfite is used as a bleaching agent. Groundwood facilities not using zinc hydrosulfite as a bleaching agent shall certify to the control authority that they are not using this bleaching compound. - See PDF for table PDF
    (2) Pretreatment standards for new sources (PSNS). Except as provided in s. NR 211.13 pertaining to removal credits, any new source subject to this section which introduces pollutants into a publicly owned treatment works shall comply with ch. NR 211 and achieve the following pretreatment standards for new sources:
    (a) The daily maximum limitations for PCP, TCP and zinc are set forth in Table 7 in both lbs/ton and mg/l.
    (b) PCP and TCP limitations are only applicable to facilities where chlorophenolic-containing biocides are used. Permittees not using chlorophenolic-containing biocides shall certify to the control authority that they are not using these biocides.
    (c) Zinc limitations are only applicable to groundwood facilities where zinc hydrosulfite is used as a bleaching agent.
